SUPPRESSORS
Suppressors, commonly referred to as silencers, are firearm sound moderators designed to reduce the noise, muzzle blast, and felt recoil generated when a firearm is discharged. In addition to providing a more enjoyable shooting experience, suppressors can improve communication on the range, reduce shooter fatigue, and help protect hearing when used in conjunction with appropriate hearing protection.
Modern suppressors are manufactured from high-strength materials such as stainless steel, titanium, or advanced alloys to provide exceptional durability and long service life. They are available in a variety of calibers and mounting configurations to accommodate pistols, rifles, and pistol caliber carbines.
Benefits of Using a Suppressor
- Reduces muzzle blast and perceived firearm report
- Helps minimize felt recoil and muzzle rise
- Improves shooter comfort and control
- Makes communication easier during training and range sessions
- Helps protect hearing when used with proper hearing protection
- Reduces muzzle flash, especially in low-light conditions
- Built for years of dependable performance
NFA Transfer Requirements
Suppressors are regulated under the National Firearms Act (NFA) and may only be transferred after approval by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). Federal, state, and local laws apply.
As of January 1, 2026, the federal $200 transfer tax for suppressors has been eliminated. However, ATF approval is still required before you may take possession of a suppressor.
Your purchase will follow the standard ATF transfer process:
- Purchase your suppressor.
- Complete the required ATF Form 4 through your transferring FFL/SOT dealer.
- Submit fingerprints, photographs, and any additional required documentation.
- Wait for ATF approval.
- Once approved, take possession of your suppressor from your selected FFL/SOT dealer.
